Owing to the underdevelopment of the lower pole, the breasts acquire a pear or tuber shape. In general this is accompanied by large-size areolas, as the majority of the mammary tissue is herniated in the subareolar area.
It consists of remodelling the breast tissue, raising the areola and making it smaller. In general this requires the insertion of an implant. It is performed under general anaesthesia, with 24-hour hospital admission. The patient can return to her working and social life after approximately 5 days.
