What is eye micropigmentation?
Eye micropigmentation is a non-invasive medical-aesthetic treatment that deposits pigment on the line immediately next to the eyelashes or in the form of eyeliner to visually densify the gaze, define the eye contour, and add depth, without the need for daily makeup.
It is performed with a digital dermograph and sterile single-use needles. Unlike makeup, the pigment does not run, does not smudge with sweat or tears, and does not erase when rubbing the eyes. The feeling is of "looking good" always, even just after waking up.
At Instituto de Benito, the treatment is performed after a personalized assessment to decide the technique, color, and line thickness based on the shape of the eye and aesthetic goals.
Types of eye micropigmentation
Between lashes (recommended for natural density)
Also called "lash line" or "lash line enhancement." The space between the lashes is micropigmented to create the optical effect of a denser and darker lash line. The result does not look like eyeliner: it looks like having more lashes. It is the most subtle and flattering technique, ideal for those who want intensity without the treatment being noticeable.

Classic eyeliner
Defined eyeliner line, thin or thick according to preference, without an upward finish. It is the option for those who already paint their eyes daily and want to wake up with outlined eyes without spending time in front of the mirror.
It is done in black or dark brown (the latter is the favorite choice for a natural finish, especially in patients with brown or blonde hair).

Cat-eye eyeliner
A variant of the classic eyeliner that includes an upward finish at the outer corner of the eye, creating the "cat eye" effect. It allows you to visually lift the gaze, elongate the eye, and compensate for slight drooping of the upper eyelid without resorting to surgery.
It is also done both on the top and bottom (the lower line is always more subtle), and in black or brown.

What does the eye micropigmentation treatment consist of?
The treatment uses a digital dermograph with a very fine needle and safe pigments specifically formulated for the eye area (free of irritating iron oxide). It is completed in two sessions separated by 4–6 weeks: the first for design and initial pigmentation, the second for reinforcement.
Personalized assessment:

Before the treatment, an assessment with the specialist analyzes the shape of the eye (almond, round, droopy, Asian), existing asymmetry, inter-eyebrow space, ophthalmological history (contact lenses, blepharitis, chronic conjunctivitis, allergies), makeup habits, and aesthetic goals. The assessment costs €50.
Pigment test and tone selection

The choice is made between black or brown depending on hair color, natural eyelash color, and desired effect. Brown is the most versatile option for natural finishes; black is the classic choice for a more intense look or defined eyeliner.
Cold sore prophylaxis

Arrive without eye makeup, no false eyelashes, no extensions. If you wear contact lenses, bring glasses: lenses cannot be worn during the treatment or for the 3 days following. Avoid taking vasodilators 48 hours before.
In-office treatment

The session lasts between 90 and 120 minutes. Surface anesthetic cream is applied to the eyelid, so the procedure is practically painless. The specialist works with the eye closed and the area protected. The lash line is scrupulously respected to avoid affecting the follicle.
Second session and progressive results

At 4–6 weeks, the reinforcement session is conducted. The color is intensified, the line is adjusted, and small asymmetries are corrected. The duration of the result ranges between 24 and 36 months, as the eyelid is one of the areas with the lowest cell turnover and best pigment retention.
Pre and post-treatment of eye micropigmentation

What is the price of eye micropigmentation treatment
320€
The price depends on the treated area:
Treatment
- Eyeliner / between lashes, upper line only 320€
- Eyeliner / between lashes upper line + lower line 450€
Both prices include the initial pigmentation session and the touch-up session at 4–6 weeks. The color (black or brown) and style (natural between lashes or eyeliner with upward finish) are decided in assessment at no additional cost.
If your case requires prior depigmentation of a previous work, that treatment is billed separately (see micropigmentation removal page).

Risks and possible side effects of eye micropigmentation
Ocular micropigmentation is the most delicate of the four aesthetic lines, due to its proximity to the eyeball and the sensitivity of the area. It is performed with certified materials and specific protocols to ensure safety.
Absolute contraindications
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- Active conjunctivitis, blepharitis or any eye infection.
- Severe dry eye syndrome.
- Recent eye surgery (LASIK, cataracts, blepharoplasty) without ophthalmologist clearance.
- Uncontrolled glaucoma.
- Active treatment with anticoagulants (check with doctor).
- Confirmed pigment allergies.
- Oncological treatments without medical clearance.
Common side effects (mild and transient)
- Eyelid inflammation for 24–48h (more pronounced than in eyebrows or lips).
- Feeling of having 'grit' in the eye for a few hours.
- Mild tearing and sensitivity to light.
- Fine scabs during healing.
Uncommon effects
- Irritative conjunctivitis due to accidental pigment entry (prevented with strict technique).
- Pigment migration if the working depth is incorrect (does not occur in medical centers with trained technique).
The eye area does not allow improvisation: it is the area where the difference is most noticeable between a treatment performed by a trained technician in a medical center and work done in an establishment without health control.

Frequently asked questions about micropigmentation
How much does eye micropigmentation cost?
€320 if only the upper line is pigmented, or €450 if both lines (upper and lower) are worked on. Both prices include the initial session and the touch-up at 4–6 weeks.
How many sessions are necessary?
Two: the first for initial pigmentation, and a second at 4–6 weeks to set the intensity. A touch-up every 24–36 months maintains the result.
Is it safe to pigment so close to the eye?
Yes, when performed in a medical center with certified materials and trained technique. We work with pigments specifically formulated for the area and sterile single-use needles.
Does eye micropigmentation hurt?
It is practically painless with surface anesthetic cream. The sensation is of tingling or slight pressure.
How long do the results last?
Between 24 and 36 months, longer than on eyebrows or lips, due to the low cell regeneration of the eyelid.
Is it the same between lashes and eyeliner?
No. Between lashes micropigments the space between the follicles to visually densify; eyeliner draws a line above the lashes, like a makeup stroke.
Can I continue using contact lenses?
Yes, but not during the 3 days following each session.
What if I use eyelash extensions?
They must be removed 14 days before the treatment and not reapplied until 14 days after.
And after a blepharoplasty?
Micropigmentation is performed 3–6 months after the surgery and with the surgeon's approval.
Can it be combined with facial treatments?
Yes, but respecting 14 days without peels, laser, or microneedling in the eye area.
Is it reversible?
Yes. If the result is not satisfactory or removal is desired, a pigment removal treatment is performed.
