What is lobuloplasty?
Lobuloplasty is a simple surgery with local anesthesia that reconstructs torn or elongated earlobes due to heavy earrings or expanders, leaving a minimal scar hidden in the natural groove that restores symmetry and freshness to the ears without anyone noticing the intervention.
Types of Lobuloplasty Augmentation
Repair of Torn or Split Earlobe
Indicated for earlobes that are completely or partially torn due to the use of heavy earrings or accidental pulls.

Reduction or Shortening of Elongated Earlobe
Indicated for earlobes that are too large, long, or sagging, either due to aging or progressive stretching.

Reconstruction of Deformed or Stretched Earlobe
Indicated for earlobes deformed by expanders, stretching, or trauma.

What Does a Lobuloplasty at IdB Involve?
Lobuloplasty is a minor surgery that begins with the application of local anesthesia to numb the earlobe, allowing the surgeon to clean and refresh the edges of the torn or excessively stretched tissue. Through small incisions, the scarred skin of the old hole is removed, and the continuity of the earlobe is reconstructed by joining the fresh edges with very fine internal and external sutures. The procedure, which usually lasts about 30 minutes per ear, ends with the application of an antiseptic and a small bandage, allowing the patient to return home immediately with a restored and firm auricular contour.
Personalized Medical Assessment

Before the lobuloplasty, the evaluation is carried out with the surgeon who will perform the intervention. In this consultation, the condition of the lobe (tear, dilation, or deformity) is analyzed to define the most appropriate technique and achieve a natural result. To book the appointment, it is necessary to pay 80 € in advance.
Preparation for the intervention

Before the lobuloplasty surgery, a personalized procedure planning is carried out and all necessary medical instructions are given to the patient to ensure maximum safety.
The intervention

The intervention is performed in a controlled surgical environment, with all safety guarantees and under the supervision of a highly experienced surgeon.
Start looking like you want to feel.

Frequently asked questions about lobuloplasty
What results can I expect?
Natural-shaped, proportionate, and harmonious lobes. The final result is appreciated once healing is complete, usually in a few weeks.
Does lobuloplasty hurt a lot?
Discomfort is usually mild or very moderate and can be easily controlled with medication. Most patients resume their usual routine in 1 to 3 days.
Can I wear earrings again after surgery?
Yes. After proper healing, it is possible to re-pierce the lobe following the specialist's instructions.
What are the risks of lobuloplasty?
Lobuloplasty is a safe procedure when performed in specialized centers and by accredited surgeons, but like any surgery, it involves potential risks that must be clearly understood.
At the Instituto de Benito, safety is a priority and all procedures are carried out under strict medical and control protocols, minimizing complications.
Most common risks (and generally mild)
- Hematoma or bleeding: accumulation of blood under the skin; usually resolves with medical control.
- Temporary swelling and discomfort: normal during the first few days; decreases progressively.
- Sensitivity alterations: numbness or increased sensitivity in the area, almost always temporary.
- Small asymmetries: may appear during the healing process.
- Seroma: accumulation of fluid that is reabsorbed or easily drained.
Less common risks
- Postoperative infection: very uncommon thanks to aseptic measures and preventive antibiotics.
- Opening of stitches or delayed healing.
- Allergic reaction or intolerance to anesthesia or surgical materials.
- Visible or thickened scar (uncommon and treatable).
How long do the results last?
The results of lobuloplasty are permanent, as long as there is no new tear or trauma.
When can I play sports or sunbathe?
Exercise: after 7–10 days (intense sport, 2–3 weeks). Sun or beach: after 3–4 weeks, with adequate sun protection over the scar.
Is the scar noticeable?
No. The scar is usually very discreet and practically imperceptible once the healing process is complete.
Can I combine this surgery with other treatments?
Yes, it can be combined with other facial or aesthetic surgery procedures, always under personalized medical evaluation.
What happens if I change weight afterwards?
Weight changes do not affect the result of the lobuloplasty.
How long does full recovery take?
Most patients resume their normal life in 1 to 3 days, although complete healing consolidates around 3–4 weeks.
