What is labiaplasty?
Labiaplasty is an intimate surgical procedure designed to reduce and reshape the labia minora, improving both the appearance and the functional comfort of the female genital area.
It is indicated when the labia minora show hypertrophy, asymmetry or excess tissue, which can cause discomfort when getting dressed, when exercising or during intercourse, or lead to self-consciousness about their appearance. The goal is to achieve a more harmonious, proportionate and comfortable anatomy, with a natural result that respects the sensitivity of the area.
Types of labiaplasty
Linear resection labiaplasty
This involves reducing the size of the labia minora with a linear cut, removing the excess tissue. It is a simple and effective technique, indicated in cases where the main aim is to reduce volume.
Wedge labiaplasty
A wedge-shaped portion of the labia minora is removed, better preserving the natural edge and pigmentation. It allows a more anatomical and aesthetic result while maintaining the natural shape of the labia.
Labiaplasty with reshaping and symmetrization
Indicated when, in addition to reducing size, asymmetries, irregularities or deformities need to be corrected, combining techniques to achieve a harmonious, balanced result.
What does the labiaplasty process involve?
It is an outpatient surgery performed under local anesthesia and sedation to correct the size or asymmetry of the labia minora. The surgeon uses longitudinal or wedge resection techniques (V-plasty) to remove the excess mucosal tissue that protrudes beyond the labia majora, always taking care to preserve the sensitivity and blood supply of the area. The procedure ends with very fine absorbable sutures that do not need to be removed manually, achieving a more harmonious, comfortable and functional vulvar contour in approximately 45 to 60 minutes of surgery.

The first consultation is with the surgeon who will perform your procedure, who assesses the anatomy of the intimate area and the degree of hypertrophy or asymmetry, and determines the most suitable technique for your case. In this consultation all your questions are answered and a fully personalized surgical plan is drawn up.
A €80 payment is required in advance to book the appointment. If you cannot travel, the first visit can also be done by video call with the surgeon who would operate on you: it costs €50, which is deducted if you decide to have surgery.

Before surgery you will receive clear instructions on medication, intimate hygiene, habits and pre-operative care so that you arrive at the procedure in the safest possible condition.

What are the risks of labiaplasty?
A simple surgery, but with one risk worth knowing about
Labiaplasty is an outpatient, well-tolerated surgery, and most patients return to their routine within a few days. Like any surgery, it has risks, and there is one specific to this procedure that deserves a separate explanation.
Removing more tissue than necessary causes tightness, discomfort and a retracted edge, and it cannot be undone. That is why the design is done with the patient standing and marked before entering the operating room, and the approach is always conservative: a later touch-up, which is possible, is preferable to an excessive resection, which cannot be reversed.
Expected effects in the first few days
- Swelling and a feeling of tightness, peaking between the second and fourth day.
- Discomfort when sitting or with tight clothing.
- Small bruises in the operated area.
- Sensitivity or stinging along the suture line for a few weeks.
Less common risks
- Partial opening of the suture line, which heals with local care.
- Residual asymmetry: the labia minora are rarely symmetrical to begin with, and the goal is balance, not exact symmetry.
- Change in color of the scar edge, lighter or darker than the surrounding tissue.
- Infection or hematoma requiring treatment.
- Persistent scar discomfort, which is assessed at your check-up.
Who is NOT a candidate: contraindications for labiaplasty
