What is monopolar radiofrequency treatment?
Body radiofrequency with Exion® is an in-clinic treatment that uses controlled heat to achieve three things at once:
• It reduces localized fat in areas such as the belly, waist and thighs.
• It firms the skin by stimulating your own collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.
• It improves skin texture and laxity
The device emits monopolar radiofrequency, which the specialist adjusts throughout the session. The heat reaches the deeper layers. The result builds session by session: a more defined contour, firmer skin and a more even appearance.
Why this non-surgical treatment is performed before liposuction
Body radiofrequency with Exion® is sometimes recommended before liposuction to improve its results. For patients who do not have much localized fat, this device-based treatment is ideal, as it reduces localized fat and redefines the contour non-invasively, with immediate recovery. Exion body radiofrequency does not remove fat; it breaks down the fat cells, which your own body then eliminates. The session is very simple and is carried out entirely with the device.

A mineral-free oil is applied so the Exion® handpiece glides smoothly and heat transfer is optimized.

Are you a good candidate for monopolar radiofrequency treatment with Exion?
One of the great advantages of Exion® is that it can be used on anyone, at any time of year. These are the six cases in which you will notice the biggest difference.

Before you book, keep in mind
Although Exion® is a very well-tolerated device suitable for any profile, there are specific situations in which we postpone the session for your safety. If any of these cases applies to you, write to us before booking and the specialist will review it with you.
• If you are pregnant, we leave radiofrequency for later.
• If you have a pacemaker, defibrillator or any implanted electronic device, the session is not for you.
• If you have metal implants in the area to be treated (plates, joint prostheses, a copper IUD when the lower abdomen is treated), we will look at another wellness option.
• If there is a skin lesion, irritation, wound or active infection in the area, we wait until the skin is completely healthy.
• If you are undergoing active cancer treatment or have a tumor in the area, radiofrequency is not applied.
• If you have given birth, you should not have the treatment until the postpartum recovery period or breastfeeding is over.

How much does a body radiofrequency session with Exion® cost in Barcelona?
Each area costs €150. We offer a full-cycle package of 6 sessions and financing.
Do you offer Exion® body radiofrequency in Madrid?
No. The Wellness IdB area operates only in Barcelona. At Instituto de Benito's Madrid center we offer other, different services. If you live outside Barcelona and would like to complete the Exion® cycle, we can plan the 6 sessions as weekly visits.
How many sessions do I need?
6 sessions, one per week. This is the schedule we follow for the treatment to take effect: radiofrequency works on the fibroblast that is growing in the basal layer of the skin, and since not all cells grow at the same time, we need weekly sessions to reach those that enter the cycle each week. After that, one maintenance session every 6 weeks.
Is body radiofrequency with Exion® painful?
No, the sensation is a pleasant deep heat. The specialist adjusts the heat intensity up to 40ºC. After the session the skin is left intact, with no marks or redness.
Does body radiofrequency reduce localized fat?
Yes. It is one of the most requested wellness treatments precisely for reducing localized fat on the belly, waist and thighs. The heat breaks down the fat cells and the body then eliminates them naturally. This technology can sometimes also be used as a treatment before liposuction to improve its result. Remember that the Exion device does not remove fat; it mobilizes it.
Is it the same as liposuction?
No. Liposuction is surgery that removes fat with a cannula and requires an operating room and recovery. Exion®, by contrast, is a non-invasive in-clinic treatment that mobilizes localized fat and firms the skin. If your goal is to remove a lot of fat in one go, liposuction is the ideal choice; if you are looking to remove small deposits of localized fat and refine your contour, an Exion® treatment protocol is the best option for you.
Can you sunbathe after an Exion® session?
Yes. There are no restrictions. You can sunbathe the same day.
Can I go to the gym afterward?
Yes, with no waiting. Physical activity enhances the feeling of well-being by boosting circulation.
Does it work the same in summer and winter?
Yes, it can be done in both summer and winter; the time of year does not affect the result.
Who can have Exion®?
Anyone who does not fall under any of the situations listed in "Before you book, keep in mind" (pregnancy, pacemaker, electronic implants, metal implants in the area, active skin infection or lesion, active cancer treatment, minors).
When will I see results?
Most patients see results from the 4th session onward. The result of the full cycle settles in the 3-4 weeks after the last session, because new collagen and elastin continue to be produced.
How long do the results last?
The result is long-lasting; it is advisable to follow the specialist's guidelines and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
