What is blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty, both upper and lower, rejuvenates the eye contour. It is common to see excess skin on the upper eyelid, internal and fat bags on the lower ones, as well as pronounced grooves even in young people, influenced by genetic inheritance.
It is a fairly simple surgery, in the sense that it is performed with local anesthesia and sedation and the patient goes home an hour after it is finished.
The intervention removes excess skin, fat, and, if necessary, orbicular muscle to add depth. Sometimes internal fat bags are removed, but if the eyebrow is very droopy, the excess skin persists. Raising the eyebrow requires expert techniques without visible scars.
Types of Blepharoplasty
Upper Blepharoplasty
In the upper eyelid, what usually occurs is an excess of skin caused by aging, there is an excess of eyelid skin, but sometimes it is accompanied by a descent of the eyebrows, which makes more skin visible and shortens the upper eyelid.

Lower Blepharoplasty
Lower blepharoplasty is a surgery used to eliminate bags under the eyes by removing excess fat (which can be in three areas: inner, middle, and outer), excess skin, and smoothing the eyelid groove to improve the tired appearance. These bags appear because the orbital septum (structure that holds the eye's fat) is weaker (usually due to genetics) and allows the fat to protrude, becoming more noticeable when looking up. The procedure can be performed from the inside of the eyelid or through an external incision.

Complete Blepharoplasty (Upper and Lower)
Combines both techniques to achieve a comprehensive rejuvenation of the gaze, globally treating both the upper and lower eyelids in a single procedure.

What is the blepharoplasty process at IdB?
Blepharoplasty begins with small incisions in the natural folds of the upper eyelids or just below the eyelashes in the lower ones so that the scars are practically invisible. Through these openings, the surgeon removes or redistributes the fat deposits that cause the "bags", tightens the weakened muscles, and trims the excess sagging skin that creates a tired or heavy look. The process concludes with very fine sutures and the application of local cold to reduce inflammation, achieving a more rested and youthful appearance without altering the natural expression of the eyes.
Personalized Medical Assessment

The first consultation is conducted directly with the surgeon who will carry out your procedure, who will evaluate the condition of the eyelids, the quality of the skin, and define the most appropriate technique (upper, lower, or complete). To book the appointment, a prior payment of €80 is required.
Preparation for the procedure

Before the surgery, a complete and personalized medical preparation is carried out, including review of tests, medication instructions, and prior guidelines to ensure that the procedure is performed under optimal conditions.
The procedure

The procedure begins with a thorough design of the eyelid area. Depending on the patient's anatomy, sedation or general anesthesia is used depending on the type of blepharoplasty.

Are you suitable for eyelid cosmetic surgery at IdB?
Blepharoplasty is indicated for people who wish to rejuvenate their look naturally and durably when signs of aging or genetics have caused changes in the eyelids that cannot be corrected with non-surgical treatments.
It is especially suitable if:
- 01
You have excess skin on the upper eyelids
Which gives a tired or aged appearance, and can even affect the visual field.
- 02
You have bags under the lower eyelids
Which create a permanently fatigued look even if you rest well.
- 03
You notice a droopy or dull look
With a loss of freshness and youthful expression.
- 04
You seek a subtle yet visible rejuvenation
Without changing the natural expression of your eyes.
- 05
You have heavy eyelids due to genetics
Even when young, and you want a clearer and more rested look.
- 06
You want a long-lasting solution
Compared to temporary treatments that do not correct the actual excess of skin or fat.
