Rhinoplasty (nose job) is a surgical procedure designed to improve the shape, size and/or proportions of the nose when it makes the facial profile look disproportionate, unharmonious or unbalanced.
At Instituto de Benito, we use every technique, depending on the anatomical characteristics of each nose: sometimes closed with ultrasonic instruments for the dorsum, open preservation, or combinations. There is no single model; each case calls for personalized or combined techniques.

The most important difference between the two approaches is that, in open rhinoplasty, a small incision is made in the columella (the skin that separates the nostrils). This mark is visible during the first few weeks, fades gradually and is no longer noticeable after about a year.
This scar almost never needs a touch-up. When it does, it is done under local anesthesia.
Types of rhinoplasty
All incisions are made inside the nose, with no external cuts. It tends to be chosen when the work is mainly on the dorsum and the tip needs little change.
Adds a small incision in the columella that allows the entire nasal structure to be seen and thick or large tips to be treated more precisely. The mark is visible during the first few weeks, fades gradually and is no longer noticeable after about a year.
The bone is shaped with ultrasonic instruments, with millimeter precision and without damaging the soft tissues.
Preserves the natural anatomy instead of taking it apart: the dorsum is kept and the whole structure is lowered, removing less bone and cartilage. It is indicated for a very specific type of nose.
Nose surgery involves making incisions (internal or at the base of the nose) to separate the skin from the underlying bone and cartilage framework, allowing the surgeon to sculpt the bone and cartilage according to the aesthetic or functional goals. Once the structure has been modified to reduce the dorsum, refine the tip or straighten the septum, the skin redrapes over the new shape and an external protective splint is placed to stabilize the tissues during initial healing.
This is a first consultation in which the proportions and balance of the face are analyzed to determine the type of nose surgery. We explain it to the patient, listen to their wishes and propose what we consider optimal and why. This consultation costs €80. If you cannot travel, the first visit can also be done by video call with the surgeon who would operate on you: it costs €50, which is deducted if you decide to have surgery.
Before surgery, you are given all the pre-operative medical guidelines (medication, habits, care) so that the procedure is performed under optimal conditions and with maximum safety.
The procedure is performed under light general anesthesia, allowing the patient to go home within 2-3 hours with a nasal splint and, in the vast majority of cases, without nasal packing.

Discomfort is usually mild to moderate, and there may be bruising around the eyes. You can lead a normal life, avoiding intense conversation, hearty laughter or movement of the nasal tip for 2-3 days. After 7-10 days the splint is removed and you return to normal life.

Although rhinoplasty is one of the most commonly performed facial surgery procedures and has a widely established safety profile, there are situations in which it is contraindicated or should be postponed. At Instituto de Benito we always assess these aspects during the pre-operative medical evaluation, above any aesthetic or commercial consideration. A good candidate for rhinoplasty is not defined solely by the desire to change the appearance or function of the nose, but by their general state of health, emotional stability and realistic expectations about the results surgery can offer.

A more harmonious, proportionate nose that is in balance with your face. Once the splint is removed, between 7 and 10 days, you can return to normal life with other people. As a guide, full recovery comes between the fourth and sixth month: until then the nose may feel firm, slightly swollen or less sensitive, something that mainly the patient notices.
