Interview "high definition liposuction" at Instituto de Benito

avenue

Faced with this challenge, the Instituto de Benito, recognized by the Surgery Guide among the best aesthetic centers in the world, is at the forefront with High Definition Liposuction (Lipo HD). We spoke with Dr. Félix Chavarría, a member of the prestigious institute and expert in this technique, to discover how plastic surgery has evolved from simply "removing fat" to "sculpting athletes."

The Technique: Beyond traditional liposuction

Dr. Chavarría, why is high definition liposuction considered so revolutionary?

It is due to the advanced technology that now allows us to act with millimetric precision. Unlike the classic technique, here we sculpt the body according to the real anatomy of each patient. After evaluating factors such as skin quality or age, I choose the specific equipment (Vaser, Microaire, etc.) to ensure optimal retraction and natural results.

In which areas of the body does it offer the best results?

Practically all over the body. In men, it is extremely effective for defining the torso and highlighting the famous "six pack." We also work on the arms to emphasize shoulders, deltoids, and triceps using the patient's own fatty tissue.

In women, we usually aim for a "soft definition." The goal is an athletic but feminine abdominal contour, which we typically combine with buttock enhancement and projection or the elimination of the double chin.

"We not only remove fat; we outline the underlying musculature to achieve an athletic appearance impossible to reach with exercise alone."

The Patient Profile and the Intervention

Who is the ideal candidate for this procedure?

Men and women between 25 and 55 years old who maintain healthy habits but need a "boost" to achieve their ideal figure. It is essential not to be overweight; ideally, the Body Mass Index (BMI) should be below 25.

What type of anesthesia and recovery time is required?

  • Anesthesia: Depends on the extent. If we reshape the entire body, we use general anesthesia. For small areas, it can be local and outpatient.
  • Recovery: It is surprisingly quick. In small areas, the patient returns to work in 2 days. In more extensive cases, after 15 days, they can lead a practically normal life.

Long-Term Results

Can we say that the results are permanent? What happens if weight is gained?

The physical change is often a great motivator to improve lifestyle. If the patient gains weight, the fat tends to distribute much more evenly than before. If they lose it, they easily regain the defined appearance achieved after surgery.

Traditionally, aesthetics seemed a female domain. Has this changed with Lipo HD?

Absolutely yes. Men now take more care of themselves and seek effective solutions for their classic concerns, such as abdominal fat. Today, looking good and having a defined torso is a priority shared by both sexes.
