Nasolabial fold filler is a minimally invasive aesthetic medicine treatment that uses hyaluronic acid to soften the lines and folds that form between the nose and the corners of the mouth. Nasolabial fold filler with hyaluronic acid is included in the guidelines of the Spanish Society of Aesthetic Medicine (SEME) on facial rejuvenation. The current technique prioritizes addressing the midface (cheek) as the primary cause of the descent, and only treats the fold directly when it is pronounced due to anatomy or is genetic in origin, not due to structural sagging.
What does nasolabial fold filler treatment involve?
The treatment is performed entirely in the doctor's office at Instituto de Benito in Barcelona or Madrid, in an outpatient session always designed and supervised by a licensed aesthetic doctor. It consists of the following steps:
Personalized medical assessment

Preparing for the treatment
Preparation is simple: the area must be clean and free of creams. The doctor will tell you whether you should avoid any medication (anticoagulants, NSAIDs) in the days beforehand to minimize bruising, and will discuss with you any circumstances relevant to your safety.
Treatment application in the clinic

It depends on the origin of the fold.
If there is a loss of volume or facial support, hyaluronic acid is usually the first option.
If the problem is related to greater skin laxity or tissue descent, a thread lift may be indicated. In some cases, both treatments are combined to optimize the result.
