In Barcelona, body lift surgery is performed by Dr. Orestes Fernández, a plastic surgeon with medical license no. 4304469 who focuses on body contouring. It is an operation designed mainly for people who have lost a lot of weight and have excess skin on the abdomen, waist, buttocks and thighs.
The first consultation and follow-up visits take place at our clinic at Av. Diagonal, 490, in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi. The surgery is performed at Clínica Diagonal (Carrer de Sant Mateu, 24-26, Esplugues de Llobregat), where the usual hospital stay is one to three nights.
It costs from €7,500 (VAT not included), and because you have surgery in Barcelona, the Synapta recovery protocol is included. He graduated in Medicine from the University of Havana in 1984 and has been a specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery since 1988. Before settling in Spain, he spent four years as head of the plastic and aesthetic surgery department at Hospital Hermanos Ameijeiras. A large part of his work is body surgery after bariatric surgery (an operation to lose weight), and he has developed liposuction and tummy tuck techniques that preserve the lymphatic system.

In a single operation, it removes excess skin from the abdomen, lower back, flanks, buttocks and outer thighs, and repositions the tissues so the contour is firm. It is done under general anesthesia and takes 4 to 6 hours. Depending on the areas, it may be a lower body lift (the most common), an upper body lift or a 360º body lift.

From €7,500 (VAT not included). The final price depends on the areas treated, the technique and the time in the operating room, and we give you a fixed quote after your consultation with Dr. Fernández.
When you have surgery in Barcelona, the quote includes the Synapta protocol, created by Prof. Alsina to make recovery more manageable. You can pay in up to 48 months, 12 of them interest-free (financing).

Dr. Fernández sees you. He assesses how much excess skin there is and where, the quality of your skin, your general health and whether your weight has been stable for some time. If you have had bariatric surgery, we also check for protein, iron or vitamin deficiencies, because they slow down healing. It costs €80, which is deducted if you go ahead with surgery.
We order the pre-operative tests, which are included, and give you guidelines on medication and diet. You need to stop smoking at least four weeks before surgery and not start again until four weeks after.
You are admitted to Clínica Diagonal and Dr. Fernández operates on you under general anesthesia. You stay one to three nights, depending on your case.
Wound care and follow-up visits take place at Av. Diagonal 490. For the first few days you will feel tightness and find it hard to stand fully upright, and the compression garment is worn for several weeks. Returning to a desk job usually takes 2 to 4 weeks. Yes. The first step can be a €50 video consultation with Dr. Fernández himself, which is deducted if you go ahead with surgery. During the call he reviews your case, answers your questions and gives you a quote. Before surgery, we need to examine you in person.
How many days you should stay in Barcelona, how many times you will need to come, where to stay and when to have surgery are decided with you after that first consultation. Travel and accommodation are not included in the quote. If you live outside Spain, the international unit can help you organize it.
