In Madrid, breast explant surgery is performed by Dr. Lucrecia Villanueva, the breast surgeon at our clinic on Serrano Street (medical license no. 282871279). She removes your implants permanently, almost always together with the capsule around them, and, if your skin needs it, lifts the breast or fills it with your own fat in the same operation.

The operation takes place at Hospital San Francisco de Asís (Chamartín) and generally does not require an overnight stay. Consultation, wound care and check-ups are at Serrano, 87. Price from €6,000 (VAT not included), with a fixed quote after the consultation.

Call 650 53 83 77 to book an appointment. First consultation, €80; video consultation with the doctor, €50. Both are deducted if you have surgery.

Who removes my implants in Madrid?

Dr. Lucrecia Villanueva, the plastic surgeon in charge of breast surgery at our Madrid clinic. She sees you, operates on you and does your check-ups.

She studied at the University of Buenos Aires and completed more than five years of hospital training in plastic surgery at Hospital General de Agudos Dr. Cosme Argerich. As well as explant surgery, in Madrid she performs breast augmentations, breast lifts, breast reductions and implant replacements, so she can discuss both options with you in the same consultation: removing or replacing.

Her full profile is on Dr. Villanueva's page.

What happens when implants are removed?

The implants are removed through the appropriate approach and, when the capsule is thickened, calcified or contracted, or the implant has ruptured, the capsule is removed too (capsulectomy). If the capsule is thin and healthy, it can be left in place. With firm skin and enough breast tissue of your own, removal alone is enough; with large implants or loose skin, a lift, fat transfer or both are usually added.

Some patients come to us with tiredness, aches or brain fog that they link to their implants. We look into it seriously, but we do not promise that removal will resolve it, and we first recommend ruling out other medical causes. Risks and recovery are covered on the breast implant removal page.

How much does breast implant removal cost in Madrid?

The price starts at €6,000 (VAT not included). It varies with the type of capsulectomy (simple, partial, total or en bloc), whether a breast lift or fat transfer is added, and the imaging tests you need. The quote we give you after the consultation is fixed.

You can pay in installments, at 0% for up to 12 months or over up to 48 months: see financing.

Which hospital will I have surgery in, and where are the check-ups?

At Hospital San Francisco de Asís, C. de Joaquín Costa, 28, 28002 Madrid, with a qualified anesthesiologist. You normally go home the same day; if drains are placed, they are removed after 3-5 days. Bring someone with you, because you will not be able to drive.

The consultation, wound care and check-ups take place at Serrano, 87, ground floor, in the Salamanca district.

What is the process if you live in Madrid?

This is how it is organized between the clinic and the hospital.

  1. 01

    Consultation at Serrano

Dr. Villanueva examines the type, placement plane and age of your implants, your skin and the tissue you still have. If needed, she requests an ultrasound or MRI and, from age 35-40, a recent mammogram.

  2. 02

    The plan

Together you decide whether the implants are simply removed or whether the breast is also lifted or filled with fat, and she shows you realistically how your breasts may look.

  3. 03

    The surgery

At Hospital San Francisco de Asís, under general anesthesia. You normally go home the same day.

  4. 04

    Recovery

Wound care and check-ups at Serrano. Wire-free bra for 4 to 6 weeks and sleeping on your back with your upper body slightly raised. Office work after a week; the breast takes on its final shape between 3 and 6 months.

Can I have surgery in Madrid if I live elsewhere?

Yes. Book a video consultation with Dr. Villanueva: it costs €50 and is deducted from the surgery. If you then decide to go ahead, you will need to come to Serrano so she can examine you.

How many days you should spend in Madrid, how many in-person visits are needed and when to have surgery are decided with you after that consultation. Travel and accommodation are not included in the price.
