Brow lift cost: from €4,000 and what makes it vary

At Instituto de Benito, a brow lift costs from €4,000. It is a one- to two-hour operation under local anaesthesia, with no overnight stay. The price includes the fees, the operating theatre, pre-operative tests and follow-up visits, and it varies with the technique and how much the brow needs to be raised. The exact price is given after the assessment.

Why does it not cost the same in every case?

Because there are several ways to lift a brow and not all of them suit every case. The endoscopic lift works through small incisions inside the scalp. The direct lift and the lateral lift are done near the brow or at its tail, which is the first part to drop with age and what gives that tired or sad look. Each technique has a different operating time, and that shows in the quote.

The forehead matters too. A very high hairline or significant hair loss determines where the scar can go and which technique is best. And then there is the amount of lift, which is measured before surgery.

On this I am conservative. The real risk of a brow lift is overdoing it and leaving a permanently surprised face, and that is harder to correct than to avoid. The aim is to open up the eyes without changing the patient's expression, and that matters more than any difference in price.

What does the price include and what does it not?

What is included

  • Specialist's fees
  • Fees of the rest of the medical team
  • Materials specified in the quote
  • Operating theatre and day hospital (same-day discharge)
  • Anaesthesia
  • Private room if needed
  • Medication during the hospital stay
  • Nursing wound care
  • Follow-up visits with the specialist
  • Pre-operative tests (blood tests, ECG, X-ray, etc.)

What is not included

  • Assessments or clearances from other specialists, if needed
  • Medication after hospital discharge
  • Post-operative garments (compression garments, bands, etc.), unless specified
  • Complementary recovery treatments (lymphatic drainage, physiotherapy, laser, etc.)
  • Costs arising from medical complications not attributable to the surgery
  • Re-operations or touch-up surgery not planned initially
  • Additional hospital stays not planned
  • Travel, accommodation or meals for the patient and companions
  • Sick leave, certificates or additional paperwork
  • Any material or procedure not expressly specified in the quote

The quote is tailored to each patient, and it takes into account the pre-operative tests, the technology used and the full post-operative follow-up. In Barcelona, when the doctor considers it necessary, there is also a skin ultrasound with NESAI, which measures the thickness of the dermis and helps to know what can realistically be achieved. In Barcelona the surgery also includes the Synapta® protocol, designed to make the recovery easier.

The first visit and financing at Instituto de Benito

The first visit costs €80, which is deducted from the price of the surgery if you decide to go ahead. By video call with the surgeon who would operate on you it costs €50, which is also deducted.

The surgery can be financed interest-free over short terms, or over longer terms at a fixed interest rate, from €1,000 to €21,000.

I perform brow lifts in Barcelona and Madrid, and in Madrid Dr. Álvaro Sada also performs them.

Frequently asked questions about brow lift cost

Brow lift or blepharoplasty?

It is the most common question, and it has a big effect on the quote. When the brow has dropped, it pushes the skin of the upper eyelid down and the eyes look heavy. Some patients have eyelid surgery when what had actually dropped was the brow, and the result is disappointing because the cause is still there.

In consultation we check whether lifting the brow is enough, whether blepharoplasty is enough, or whether both are needed. If there is excess skin on the eyelid, that is a blepharoplasty, which starts at €2,500 and is quoted separately. Both can be done in the same operation, and also with a facelift.

Is it the same as an endoscopic lift?

The endoscopic brow lift is one of the brow lift techniques. In the article on facelift cost it appears as an "endoscopic lift" from €4,000, aimed at the upper and middle thirds of the face and at early signs of ageing. It is the same starting price. When sagging affects the whole face, the endoscopic lift does not replace a full facelift.

How long does the result last?

As a guide, between five and eight years. It is an average. The technique has little effect on how long it lasts. What counts is the quality of the skin and tissues, genetics and how each person ages. Over the years a small touch-up may be worthwhile.

Initial recovery takes seven to ten days, social life resumes between day ten and day fifteen, and the final result arrives between the fourth and sixth month.
