Dutasteride for hair loss is an antiandrogen drug for medical use which, applied to the scalp (hair mesotherapy) or taken orally as medically indicated, slows hair loss in androgenetic alopecia by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to DHT, the main cause of follicle miniaturization.
Dutasteride is an antiandrogen drug authorized by the AEMPS (Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices) for the treatment of prostatic hyperplasia and, off-label, for androgenetic alopecia. The AEDV (Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology) and the SEME (Spanish Society of Aesthetic Medicine) recognize its use in hair mesotherapy as a complement to oral treatments or as an alternative when these are not tolerated. Comparative studies show efficacy equivalent or superior to oral finasteride.
The treatment is performed entirely in the doctor's office at Instituto de Benito in Barcelona or Madrid, in an outpatient session always designed and supervised by a licensed aesthetic doctor. It consists of the following steps:
The doctor assesses the type and pattern of hair loss, rules out hormonal or nutritional causes and, where appropriate, recommends a genetic test for androgenetic alopecia. First consultation €50.
Your scalp should be clean when you arrive. No gel, no hairspray, no styling products. The doctor selects the personalized cocktail suited to your type of alopecia.
The doctor performs microinjections into the scalp with a very fine needle, following the treatment pattern. The session is well tolerated.
Results build session by session: first hair loss slows, then density improves and, finally, hair thickness. The doctor plans the periodic maintenance required.

The final price depends on the area or areas to be treated, the product or cocktail used and the number of sessions the doctor recommends after the consultation. The first aesthetic medicine consultation costs €50 (deductible from your first treatment). We offer financing for extended treatments and treatment packages.
Dutasteride hair treatment is indicated for people in good general health who fit any of these profiles. Final suitability is confirmed by the doctor after a personalized consultation.

Patient safety comes before any aesthetic result. Dutasteride hair treatment should not be performed, or should be postponed, in the following cases:

Dutasteride hair treatment is a safe treatment when performed by a licensed physician in an authorized center with approved medical products. Even so, every medical procedure has a profile of possible effects that it is only honest to share with you.
