The choice comes down to three things you can verify: that the surgeon is licensed and specifically dedicated to breast surgery, that the operating room is accredited and a qualified anesthesiologist is present, and that the person who assesses you is the one who operates on you and follows you afterward.

At Instituto de Benito we operate at our center at Av. Diagonal, 490, 1º, 1ª, in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi. The procedures are performed by licensed surgeons specifically dedicated to breast surgery, in an accredited operating room and with a qualified anesthesiologist. The consultation is carried out by the same surgeon who will operate (€80, deducted from the cost of the surgery), who also handles your recovery.

The price starts from €6,250 and includes implants with medical CE marking, operating room, anesthesia and all post-operative check-ups. We are a medical team with more than 40 years of experience and more than 10,000 breast surgeries, members of SECPRE, ISAPS and SCCPRE.

Why it matters who operates on you in Barcelona

It is worth knowing who is treating you and what accreditation they hold.

Who operates on you

You are operated on by a plastic surgeon specializing in Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery, a member of SECPRE (Spanish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery).

  • Dr. Marina García, medical license no. 19091
  • Dr. Víctor Cabrera Mas, medical license no. 50169
  • Dr. María Gijón Vega, medical license no. 63332

The same doctor from start to finish

The specialist who assesses you at the first consultation is the one who operates on you and follows you afterward. There are no sales reps in between and no changes of team between the consultation and discharge.

Where the surgery takes place

The procedures are performed at Clínica Diagonal, with an operating room, a qualified anesthesiologist and inpatient facilities. The consultation, dressing changes and check-ups take place at Av. Diagonal, 490.

Instituto de Benito has more than 40 years of experience and more than 10,000 breast surgeries.

What your breast augmentation in Barcelona includes

Beyond the items in the quote, this is what you get from the moment you walk through the door on Diagonal until one year after your surgery

Before surgery

  • Consultation with the surgeon who will operate on you, not with a sales rep. About 45 minutes at our Barcelona center. Cost: €80, deductible from the cost of the surgery.
  • Dimensional surgical plan, based on the measurements of your chest and breast tissue, not a size picked from a catalog. It defines the implant, volume, placement plane and incision approach.
  • Fixed, written quote, with a full breakdown of what is included and excluded before you make any decision.
  • Guidance on the pre-operative tests your case requires and on where to have them done in Barcelona. These tests are included in the price.
  • Answers to your questions by phone or WhatsApp throughout the pre-operative period, with no limit on inquiries.

The day of the procedure

  • Accredited operating room at [name of the center], with a supporting medical team throughout the surgery.
  • Anesthesia administered by a qualified anesthesiologist, who stays with you during the procedure and as you wake up. Never delegated staff.
  • Implants with medical CE marking, specified by brand and model in your quote.
  • Hospital stay and private room if your case requires it, included in the price.
  • Medication during the hospital stay and dressing changes by nursing staff.

After discharge

  • Synapta protocol, our own recovery method. It acts on the peripheral nervous system to reduce spasm of the pectoral muscle, which is responsible for much of the discomfort after an implant is placed, rather than relying on pain medication alone.
  • Direct phone line to the Barcelona team from the moment you are discharged, for any question or warning sign.
  • Check-ups with your specialist included: first check-up within 24 to 48 hours, and scheduled follow-up until the final result is assessed.
  • Medical records shared between Barcelona and Madrid, in case you relocate or prefer to have part of your follow-up at the other center.
  • Written care instructions: rest, bra, wound hygiene, returning to work and to exercise.

Post-surgical garments, medication after discharge and complementary recovery treatments are quoted separately. You can see the full list under what is not included.

Which approach is decided at your Barcelona consultation

The incision approach is not picked from a catalog. It is decided at the consultation based on your anatomy, the tissue coverage you have and where the scar is best placed. These are the three we perform.

Which approach is right for you is decided at the consultation. The procedure is explained on the breast augmentation page.

Axillary approach

The incision is made in a natural fold of the armpit, so no scar is left on the breast. The implant is placed under endoscopic guidance. It is the option usually preferred by those who do not want a visible mark on the breast.

Inframammary approach

The incision is placed in the fold under the breast, where the breast itself hides it. It gives the most direct access, and therefore the greatest control over the pocket that holds the implant and over its final position. It is the most widely used approach.

Periareolar approach

The incision is placed at the edge of the areola, where the change in skin color conceals the scar. It is useful when, in addition to the augmentation, the position of the areola needs to be addressed.

Your recovery in Barcelona, week by week

What follows is your recovery timeline and, above all, when we see you. All check-ups are included in the price.

First 48-72 hours

Discomfort and a feeling of pressure, managed with the prescribed pain medication. You go home wearing the post-surgical bra and with a direct phone number for the clinic.

First week

First check-up at the clinic: the wound is checked and your instructions are adjusted. Most patients resume light, sedentary activity within a few days and return to office work between day seven and day ten.

Weeks 2 to 3

The swelling goes down noticeably. Second check-up. You keep wearing the bra and avoid strain and sudden arm movements.

Week 6

Follow-up check-up. This is when, with your surgeon's approval, you can resume high-impact exercise.

3 to 18 months

The implant finishes settling and the scar gradually fades until it fully matures. Sensation, if it has been affected, usually returns to normal between 3 and 6 months.

Warning signs: when to call us

Most complications are resolved without difficulty if they are detected early, so it is worth knowing when to call rather than wait for the next check-up.

If you notice any of these signs, contact the clinic or go to the emergency room. The full list of risks and side effects is on the breast augmentation page.

Call Av. Diagonal, 490, 1º 1ª if you experience

  • Severe pain that does not ease with the prescribed pain medication.
  • Fever above 38 °C.
  • Warmth, spreading redness or discharge in one breast.
  • Asymmetry that appears suddenly.
  • Difficulty breathing or chest pain.

The team that will operate on you in Barcelona

At Instituto de Benito, the surgeon who assesses you is the same one who operates on you and follows you during recovery. There are no sales reps in between and no changes of team between the consultation and the operating room. Marina, gijon

Frequently asked questions about breast augmentation in Barcelona

How much does breast augmentation cost in Barcelona?

At Instituto de Benito Barcelona it starts from €6,250. This includes the fees of the specialist and the rest of the medical team, implants, operating room, anesthesia, hospital stay with a private room if your case requires it, medication during your stay, dressing changes by nursing staff and check-ups with the specialist. It also includes the pre-operative tests. It does not include medication after discharge or post-surgical garments, unless otherwise specified. The final amount is confirmed in writing after the consultation.

Where does Instituto de Benito operate in Barcelona?

Our clinic is at Avenida Diagonal 490, 1º 1ª, in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district. That is where we carry out the consultation, check-ups and follow-up. The procedures are performed at [name of the operating room/hospital], an operating room accredited with [accreditation], always with a qualified anesthesiologist.

Is the surgeon who assesses me the one who operates on me?

Yes. At Instituto de Benito the consultation, the surgery and the post-operative follow-up are all carried out by the same surgeon. There are no sales reps in between and no changes of team between the consultation and the operating room.

Can I have my first consultation online if I don't live in Barcelona?

Yes. The first consultation can be held by video call. An in-person examination is essential before surgery, but it can be combined with the pre-operative tests in a single trip so that you only need to come to Barcelona when strictly necessary.

How many in-person check-ups do I need in Barcelona?

Five check-ups are included during the first year: within 24 to 48 hours, at 7 days, at one month, at 3 months and at one year. The first two are always in person; the rest can be partly adapted to remote follow-up if you live far away.

Can I have surgery in Barcelona and my follow-up in Madrid?

Yes. We have centers in Barcelona and Madrid with shared medical records, so you can have your surgery in one city and some of your check-ups in the other. This is useful if you relocate for work or if your usual residence is in another city.

How long does it take from consultation to surgery?

It depends on the surgical schedule and the time needed for the pre-operative tests. Ask us about current availability at our Barcelona center.

What do I need to bring on the day of surgery?

Your ID document (DNI), your health card or insurance policy if you have one, the results of your pre-operative tests and a list of your regular medication. Wear comfortable, front-opening clothing and come with an adult companion who can take responsibility for you at discharge.

Is there parking near the clinic?

Yes. The Windsor parking garage is at Via Augusta 2 bis, a one-minute walk from the clinic and open 24 hours. As an alternative, there is the Diagonal – Rambla Catalunya parking garage, at Av. Diagonal 403. By public transport, the nearest stop is Diagonal (metro L3 and L5), about five minutes away, and Provença (FGC L6, L7, S1 and S2), six minutes away.

How does financing work?

You can finance the procedure for up to 12 months interest-free or for up to 60 months, subject to conditions. You will need your ID document (DNI), your most recent pay slip or tax return and a bank account number. The application is processed during the consultation and is usually resolved within 24–48 hours.
