In Barcelona, breast implant replacement is performed by Dr. Víctor Cabrera Mas, registered with the COMB (Barcelona Medical Association) under number 50169, and Dr. Marina García Moya, Medical license no. 19091. The surgeon who sees you assesses your current implants and decides with you whether they need replacing, whether to change the volume or whether to remove them. We also see patients who had their surgery at other clinics.

Consultations and check-ups take place at Av. Diagonal, 490, and the operation at Clínica Diagonal (Esplugues de Llobregat), with same-day discharge. Prices start at €7,000 (VAT not included) and include the Synapta recovery protocol.

To book an appointment, call or send a WhatsApp message to 932 53 02 82. The first consultation costs €80 and the video consultation with Dr. Cabrera, €50. Both are deducted from the cost of surgery. You can speak with him in Catalan or Spanish.

Who will replace my implants in Barcelona?

Dr. Víctor Cabrera Mas or Dr. Marina García Moya. Both perform implant replacement at our Barcelona clinic, and the surgeon who sees you at the consultation is the one who operates on you and follows you up.

Dr. Cabrera trained in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery through the MIR (Spain's national medical residency exam) at Hospital Universitari Germans Trias i Pujol (2014-2019) and is accredited by the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS). He was an attending surgeon at Hospital Moisès Broggi, where he specialized in breast reconstruction and microsurgery. In breast surgery he performs augmentations, reductions, breast lifts with and without implants and implant replacements, as well as reconstruction after breast cancer.

He is a member of SECPRE (Spanish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery) and SCCPRE (Catalan Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery). More details on Dr. Cabrera's profile.

Dr. García has been part of Dr. Javier de Benito's team for more than three decades and has performed more than 5,500 breast procedures, including secondary surgery, that is, surgery that corrects or replaces a previously placed implant. Her training and cases are on her profile.

When are implants replaced and what is done?

Implants are replaced when they have ruptured or worn out, when there is capsular contracture (that is, the capsule the body forms around the implant has hardened), when the implant has shifted out of place or simply when you want a different size or shape. If there is contracture, the capsule is removed, fully or partially, before the new implant is placed.

The surgery is done under general anesthesia, takes 60 to 120 minutes and is usually performed through the scar from the first surgery. It is often combined with a breast lift (mastopexy) to raise the breast. Types of replacement, risks and recovery are explained on the page about implant replacement. If you are unsure how often they should be replaced, we explain it in how often to replace breast implants.

How much does breast implant replacement cost in Barcelona?

From €7,000 (VAT not included). What affects the price most is the new implant, whether the capsule needs to be removed, how the breast looks once the old implant is taken out and how complex the previous surgery was. We give you a fixed quote at the end of the assessment.

Because you have surgery in Barcelona, the Synapta protocol is included. It can be financed over up to 48 months, 12 of them interest-free (financing).

Where will I have surgery and where are the check-ups?

The consulting rooms are on Diagonal and the operating room is in Esplugues de Llobregat.

Av. Diagonal, 490

This is where we examine your implants at the first consultation and where you have your dressings and check-ups. It is on the corner with Balmes, next to Diagonal metro station.

Clínica Diagonal

Carrer de Sant Mateu, 24-26, Esplugues de Llobregat, with a qualified anesthesiologist. After the replacement you stay under observation for a while and go home the same day, accompanied by someone.

What is the process if you live in Barcelona?

If you live in or around Barcelona, you only go to Esplugues on the day of the operation.

First consultation with your surgeon

Your surgeon examines the condition of your implants, the quality of the tissue, the shape of the breast and whether there is contracture, displacement or asymmetry. Based on that, you decide together on the type of new implant or whether it makes sense to use your own fat. It costs €80, which is deducted.

Before surgery

Pre-operative tests are included. No smoking for four weeks before or four weeks after, and you must fast on the day of surgery.

The operation

At Clínica Diagonal, under general anesthesia. After a period of observation, you go home.

Afterwards

Dressings and check-ups at Diagonal. A post-surgical bra, no physical strain and sleeping on your back for the first few weeks. Most patients return to office work after 7 to 10 days, and to intense exercise from 4 to 6 weeks.

Can I have breast implant replacement in Barcelona if I live elsewhere?

Yes. The €50 video consultation is done by the surgeon personally and is deducted if you have surgery; during it we look at what is happening with your implants and give you a quote. Before surgery we need to see you in person.

The number of days in Barcelona, the in-person visits and the date are decided with you after that first consultation. Travel and accommodation are not included. From outside Spain, write to the international unit.
