What breast implant size is right for you?
There is no ideal implant size for every patient. Volume and profile are chosen according to three things: the width of your breast base, the quality of your skin and the result you want, more natural or fuller.

It is the first question almost every patient asks at a breast augmentation consultation, and the short answer is that no single number works for everyone. An implant that looks natural on one patient can look excessive on another, or fall short.
Find the volume that suits you

Is there an ideal implant size?
No. "There is no implant volume that is right for patients in general," explains Dr. Víctor Cabrera, a plastic surgeon specialising in breast surgery. The right size comes from measuring your body and talking about what you want to achieve, not from a chart.
That is why the volume is decided at the consultation, by measuring the chest and the breast. We explain how we do it in why precise measurement matters in breast surgery.
Which factors decide the implant volume?
Dr. Cabrera highlights three:
- The breast base: "patients with a very broad back will need larger volumes than patients with a very narrow back." The implant has to fit the width of your chest.
- Skin quality: if the breast has dropped, if you have had weight changes or have stretch marks, "all of this leads us to use smaller implants." When there is also marked sagging, it is sometimes combined with a breast lift.
- The result you want: fuller or more natural, even with no visible sign of surgery.

Which implant profile is best: low, high or extra high?
The profile is how far the implant projects forward. According to Dr. Cabrera, for a fuller result "we use high or extra-high profiles", and for a natural result, or one that does not show, the choice tends to be "lower profiles and smaller volumes".
If you want nobody to notice, we explain how we plan a discreet breast augmentation. Besides the profile there is the shape of the implant, which we explain in round or anatomical implants.
Why cc are not a bra size
Implants are measured in cubic centimetres (cc), which is a volume, not a size. The same number of cc gives a different result on a broad back than on a narrow one, or with more or less of your own tissue. We look at an example in is a 350 cc implant too big?.
Frequently asked questions about breast implant size
What size breast implant do I need?
The one that fits the width of your breast base, the quality of your skin and the result you want. There is no general number: we work it out at the consultation by measuring your chest and breast.
Which breast implants look the most natural?
For a natural result, lower profiles and smaller volumes adapted to your breast base are usually chosen. How much of your own tissue covers the implant also matters.
What is the best breast implant?
The one that suits your body and what you are looking for. Size, profile and shape are chosen together at the assessment; no implant is the best for every patient.
How many cc counts as a large breast?
It depends on each body: the same cc look large on a patient with a narrow back and natural on one with a broad back. That is why we talk about proportion, not a number.
How much does a breast augmentation cost?
From €6,250 (VAT not included). We explain what is included in breast augmentation cost, and you can have it in Barcelona or in Madrid.
